Dividend investing for Filipinos, without the hype.

Every Sunday at 8 AM, I send a free newsletter to Filipino investors who want to build real dividend income without becoming traders. 13 years on the PSE. Over ₱100 million under management. No pump-and-dump. Just the math.

You were never taught this.

Most Filipinos don't understand dividend investing because no one in our school system ever taught it. The default plan — a time deposit at 4%, a pre-need plan someone pitched at a wedding, maybe a house if you could afford it — isn't a plan. It's a hope.

Meanwhile, March 2026 inflation hit 4.1%. Your savings are losing purchasing power every month they sit in the bank.

There's a different way. Most Filipinos just weren't shown it.

I've been burned. You don't have to be.

I'm Elmer Dy Tang. I'm a Certified Securities Representative at Unicapital Securities, a member broker-dealer on the Philippine Stock Exchange. I've spent 13 years in this market.

I've made every mistake you might make. Chased hype. Trusted the wrong source. Held a losing position past reason. Before I became a stockbroker, I was a Sunlife agent — so I understand the insurance side of Filipino financial planning too, including where it works and where it gets sold to people who don't need it.

Today I manage over ₱100 million in client assets. I built Second Opinion so other Filipinos don't have to burn a decade learning this the way I did.

Frequently asked

Is this investment advice?
No. Second Opinion is for educational purposes only. Every stock discussed is framed as "worth a closer look" or "on our radar" — never as a recommendation to buy. Past dividend payments do not guarantee future payouts. Please consult your broker or licensed financial adviser before making any investment decisions.
What does it cost?
Free. The weekly newsletter is free and always will be. If I earn anything from you, it's through the commission structure when you trade stocks in a UTrade brokerage account where I'm your assigned representative — the same commission Unicapital charges any client. No hidden fees, no gated tiers today.
I've never invested in stocks. Is this for me?
Yes. Second Opinion is written for absolute beginners. Every acronym gets spelled out. Every number gets its arithmetic shown. If you can read an email, you can follow along — and I'll never make you feel bad for starting where you are.
I already have a broker. Why would I subscribe?
Because Second Opinion isn't your broker — it's your second opinion. You can keep your existing account and still read the newsletter to sharpen your thinking on Philippine dividend stocks. The subscribe button asks nothing of you except an email address. That's it.
What if I need my money back in a year?
Dividend investing is a long-term proposition. If you might need the money in under 3 years, dividend stocks are probably not the right place for it. A high-yield savings account or a short-term time deposit will serve you better in that window. I'd rather tell you that than sell you something wrong.
Can I open a UTrade account from abroad?
Yes. UTrade supports online onboarding for Overseas Filipino Workers and Filipinos based abroad with a valid Philippine passport or ID. Once open, you can trade remotely from anywhere.
Why "Second Opinion"?
Because most Filipinos only ever get one opinion on their money — usually from an insurance agent or a relative. A licensed broker's read on the stock market is often the second opinion they never knew they needed. That's what this is.

Sunday mornings will be different.
